About

Budd Landscape Design is a Sydney-based landscape design studio creating thoughtful gardens with a strong emphasis on planting and connection to place.

Budd Landscape Design

Founded by landscape designer Katie Budd, the studio works across projects of varying scales, from compact urban gardens and courtyards to larger residential and rural landscapes.

Katie's approach combines a strong understanding of spatial design with a genuine love of plants and gardens.

Rather than imposing a particular style, each project begins with the architecture, landscape and people who will live there. The goal is to create gardens that feel appropriate to their surroundings and are structured enough to function beautifully, but relaxed enough to evolve over time.

There is a particular focus on creating plant-rich landscapes that balance architectural form with softness, texture and seasonal change.

Budd Landscape Design works collaboratively with clients, architects, builders and landscape contractors from the early design stages through to implementation.

About Katie

Katie Budd is a Sydney-based landscape designer with over 16 years’ experience across landscape design, horticulture, arboriculture and garden media.

Her career began as a garden researcher for Better Homes and Gardens, where she spent seven years immersed in gardens, plants and horticulture. She has since worked with leading Sydney landscape practices, has built show gardens for the Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show and is also a Level 5 Consulting Arborist.

Katie loves the transformative quality of gardens and their ability to completely change the way a space feels; how they can contribute to a sense of wellbeing, and how they continually evolve through the seasons and over time.

Bunnings Magazine - September 2026

I was recently asked to contribute to an article for the Bunnings Magazine, sharing some of my thoughts on coastal, native and naturalistic garden design.

Its always lovely to have the opportunity to talk about gardens and share what I have learnt over the years.
